The article presents the results of a study of the formation and development of the centric structure in the religious architecture of the Scandinavian countries. It shows how the type of round churches that emerged in the Middle Ages has evolved in the 20th and 21st centuries, adapting to modern needs and stylistic preferences. The examples of the works of the architectural bureaus Lund+Slaato arkitekter, LINK arkitektur, K2S Architects, Rørbæk og Møller Arkitekter, and others demonstrate the process of expanding the social function in church buildings in the mid-20th century, followed by its separation in the early 21st century. The device of the main semantic elements of the temple is considered separately: the altar, the altar barrier, as well as the natural lighting system.
